SUBwoofer not as loud as it used to be :(?

well my dad had a VERY nice 12" home theater subwoofer that i wanted... so i finally bought it from him and the sub was about 2 years old when i bought it and i have had it for about 4 or 5 years so its 6 or 7 years old now....

anyways its a 12" Sony home theater subwoofer --POwered-- and theres 2 knobs on the back ... 1 says LEVEL and 2 says hrtz or w/e... anyways when i bought it backthen i had it at about 40% power and only 80hrtz.... AND IT SLAMMED the entire house down too. ---btw it goes 50-170...---

anyways after a few more years went by ... it seems like it keeps getting less and less loud... so At the moment its at about 95% power and 165 hrtz and its not as loud as it was at 40% volume and 80 hrtz... y is it getting less and less loud its 7 years old...

but what can i do to get it pumping like it used to ? im only 14 so i dont have hundreds of bucks to blow if i did id just buy a new sub...

help me plzzzzzzzzz i really like this sub and want to keep it ty :(

things get old and wear out dude, thats just a fact of life. Sounds u might have been pushing it. WHen you crank speakers like that, especially powered ones with no ventilation they get really hot. Which over time will eventually make them wear out and fade. Save up a little money and get yourself a nice used one from craigslist.com
