Classical Music... Any suggestions?
I've been wanting to listen to some powerful, booming classical music (or orchestra)... but I cannot seem to find any. I've found a lot of opera music, but I would rather just listen to just the music. (although I do like the "Anvil Song") Please someone help me cure my musical craving!
Classical Music... Any suggestions?theater seatingany of the tone poems of Richard Strauss:
Alpensinfonie, Don Juan, Tot und Verk?rung, Also Sprach Zarathustra. Strauss loved big orchestras, and was often accused of throwing in everything but the kitchen sink.
Same goes for the symphonies of Gustav Mahler, but if you want to avoid singing, leave out numbers 2,3,4, and 8.
the 4 symphonies of Johannes Brahms are also very powerful if not as large.
Try out orchestral suites and symphonies of the Russian composers Rimsky-Korsakoff, Modest Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff, Khatchaturian, and Shostakovitch ( who wrote 15 symphonies, each one bigger than the last).
Happy listening

Listen to Richard Wagner, especially his Ride of the Valkries. Most of his music and especially that one makes me feel alive and strong. You can hear why the nazis used his music.Although,I don't condone extermination of the jews while listening to Wagner...or at any other time.
