How can I produce a podcast?

I'm interested in producing a podcast of old opera tunes. I have a large collection of opera 78's and would love to share them with the world. I know of other podcasts that do something similar, but are run by opera "veterans" (people that have been listening for years) I want my podcast to have a point of view of a newbie making discoveries and sharing them with the audience. How would I transfer my 78's into audio format and how can I make a podcast?
