You may have it a little backwards, jack. You see a movie producer is so named because the producer produces the movie. The producer is the one who puts up the money for a picture. You don't pay a producer to produce, a producer takes the money from the gain. If you are paying some one to make your movie, you are the producer, get it? If you are talking about actually a director, who directs the movie once a producer has backed it, directors are paid in all sorts of different ways. This is all a bit long and complicated to explain here, I suggest you start by getting a book at your local library about how to write a screenplay. Good luck, don't let any one squash your vision.
