Why is it bad to go to the movie alone?

Whether it be a movie or the theatre or even a nice dinner at an upscale bar, why do SO many people think it is not okay to do by yourself? If you enjoy it and your friends can't make it, why pass up an opportunity to enjoy yourself? Is this only a 'delima' in the US?

Who told you that going alone to a movie is a problem has some self confidence issues. I believe that you can go anywhere alone and have a great time, just ignore everything that others may say. Who knows, this way you could meet new interesting people.
