HELP! I'm getting my first D. How bad is this?
I'm taking physics right now and I took this class by mistake. I thought it would be fine but it turns out to be my worse class ever. I'm a senior and I have already put in my applications for CSU's. How bad is this one D going to be? I'm stressing out over this please help.

Do not worry about it. My buddy got a D in pre-cal in our senior year and he was still accepted to Cal State Fullerton. Don't worry about it, relax and enjoy senior year.|||You have to go the professor of the class and try to find out if you can get a C. If you can do some extra report on something. One D isn't the end of the world, but it sure doesn't help. Make the effort.|||It's only a week or so into the semester. You've got plenty of time to pull that grade up - talk to your teacher about extra help sessions, extra credit, or tutoring.|||In the context of 120 semester-hours, one D makes little difference in the 4 point GPA scale. Of course, do your best, but don't stess about one bad grade--it may be evidence of your personal areas of weakness, and that's an important lesson.|||At least it is ':Physics'. It is not the worst, unless you don't learn from it. I had my first 'D' in Astronomy. The subsequent course was with the same instructor! The second time, I took ALL her advice on how to improve my grades in her classes. I didn't take a chance the next time. As a result in her second class (which was significantly harder), I received an 'A.' But I knew Science was not my strongest suit and I listened for how I could get help.
If you think it is solely the instructor, withdraw until you can get the course with another one or choose an online course. One 'D' is okay if you learn from it and don't repeat it.
Ask yourself, what happened?|||If your cumulative GPA is still okay, then you don't have much to worry about. If all of your other grades are higher, then admissions folks will see that even though you didn't do well in physics, you did do well in other classes. Be sure to maintain a high GPA next semester. Also remember that grades aren't everything, there's stuff like extracurriculars, etc. Good luck!
