I'm the only 16 and a half year old I know that still needs a sitter for her & her brother

I don't know what to do cause I'm embaressed. I am actually really mature but my mom is all "well what would you do if there was an intruder in the house!?" Chances are, an intruder won't come, but it is true that you never know. Once, my cousin rang the doorbell at like 10 pm and my friend's mom and the cops came (we didn't know it was him, he kept ringing the doorbell) and we ran upstairs to my room and tried to see what this person looked like. We did the responsible thing, he wasn't an intruder but still it's something. I don't know what to do, my mom tries to make me feel guilty about it she's all "I'm stressed out enough, don't do this to me!" & makes me feel terrible but I can cook and take care of my brother and if there was an intruder, we'd do our best to get out of the house asap. I mean, an intruder could come and hurt my mom, too. Hells, she is as big as I am. She thinks I'm a baby, but I'm not.

Well, it seems like your mom is only looking out for you.

But honestly, 16 is too old to have a babysitter, especially if you are as mature as you say. Heck, I'm 16 and people trust me to take care of their own children. That's why 16 year old girls are babysitters, becasue they are mature enough to take care of themselves AND others. For goodness sakes, you'll be able to move out in less than 2 years!
