Audtioning for professional musical... need help choosing a good audition piece!?





I have them all listed, but I need a couple opinions. I know it's my choice, but I'm just wanting some opinions.

Im a 17 yr old guy who sings tenor and am trying out for Hairspray, Link.

Here is what I have so far:

1. Dancing through Life - Wicked

2. Something about you - Altar Boyz

3. Purpose - Avenue Q

Back Ups (idk why id use them):

1. Will I? - Rent

2. What a night - Jersey Boys

3. Bet on it - HS Musical

4. I can do that - Chorus Line

Let me know which ones I should consider. I appreciate it sooo much thanks!

Do not do High School Musical. They will laugh at you as will everyone else.

And really, you should not do ANY of these. You should not do something from a show currently running in New York as all of those are unless it is specifically stated that you have to (but that only happens if you are invited to audition).

If you are going for Link, you should do a song that is actually from that era in a style similar to his. Hairspray is a period show, so doing a song from that period is not only appropriate, it will also give you an edge on everyone since you understand that and you show you can sing the style.
