Did anyone else think The Lion King musical sucked?
I saw it on tour in Los Angelas and, much to my great dissapointment, it was crap in comparision with the original Broadway cast. The stage was tiny, and I mean TINY; the sun at the beginning was very small, the choir was very small and don't get me started on the orchestra. The music was terrible, and volume was very low; there might as well have been no music at all, especially during the Circle of Life Opening. Adult Simba and Nala were really bad singers, let's just say Shadowland sounds NOWHERE near as dramatic or even decent as it does on the soundtrack. The effects were cheap and over all it was just very dissapointing.
I was particullarly upset because I had been wanting to see The Lion King for years, but I just left feeling ripped off. I expected to feel great excitement during the opening scene but no.
For a "6 Tony Award-winning Best Musical", The Lion King tour certainly didn't meet the expectations. I strongly recommend you don't see the tour cast!
Anyone agree?
Did anyone else think The Lion King musical sucked?performing artsNever, EVER compare the tour to the original. It will NEVER be the same. There is no way that it can be, because each house they perform in is different. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I saw the very same tour, when it was in Denver. It was absolutely wonderful. My suggestion to you is to never see a tour ever again. You obviously will be disappointed, so why bother?
