I'm a musical theatre major, and I'm trying to adjust to moving to the big city...help?

Hey guys.

I'm from a little town...I mean a little...little...little..little...town. Not one of those one movie theatre, one bowling alley, one gas station deals. We're talking NO stores, and population of 35 people, ok? I grew up in Bledsoe, Texas, pop. 35, 45 miles from anywhere, and I LOVE the big city. I'm a musical theatre major and I'm attending West Texas A&M University right now as a freshman, and I was just wondering if there was any tips ya'll could give me for moving WAY away from home. I'm moving to Chicago in a a couple of years, because I've a got an early internship with an off-broadway group there, and all of my family lives down here.

Anyway, I just wondered if there was something ya'll could tell me about moving that far away. Tips? Hints? Money? haha, just kiddin! :)

Wow. What a transition, but that's good. You get to test your wings. I'm into broadway, too. lol and I also live in a small town so I feel ya. Anywhoo, well, there's not much you can do but realize that the big city isn't going to love you, know you, and certainly not treat you the way your little town did, but you probably gathered that much. The best thing you can do is develope some tough skin, figure out certain areas you wouldn't mind living in and the cost, then figure out a way to save as much money as you can. You should probably visit Chicago a couple of times to get the feel of the city. You'll know what you like and don't like before you even move, and it'll be easier to adjust.
