Not Often I Ask A Question About A Mineral.?

I have located a bluish, glass like stone. Looking through some books and searched online, I feel it could be Blue Obsidian. Many books state this for the colors:

Brown, Black, Blue, Green, Rainbow, Red-Black, Silver, Gold-Sheen.

You probably can't tell much from this photograph but do your best:

It looks like an opal to me. Check the hardness, if you can inscribe it with a steel knife it is softer than 6-7on the Moh's hardness scale, and probably an opal. if the blue mineral scatches glass it is harder than 5.
