From the House of the Dead?





I am completely in love with this opera and I was wondering if you like it or not?

And I was also wondering why the composer keeps using the opening melody throughtout the piece 500000000000 times?!

It's a truly gorgeous phrase, though is there a particular reason behind the repetition?

I love From the House of the Dead and feel privileged to have seen the one fully staged performance I have gotten to see. Leo? Janá?ek composes in a style that closely resembles the human voice and that may account for the repetition in his work. I get a hunted feeling just thinking about the opera as I type.
