Maori culture in australia and new zealand?dream theaterjust to let you know Maori culture only relates to New Zealand,Australia is a total different country and any New Zealanders living here are considered foreigners like any one else from overseas,I'm Australian and I'm married to a Kiwi (New Zealander) and i can tell you we don't like being referred to as new zealanders and like wise for the Kiwi's being called Aussies,in Australia the native culture is Aboriginal and in new zealand its the Maori culture both countries are great and I'm sure you'll love both of them but maybe do a little research before you go-enjoy your trip :)
p.s a Hangi is a traditional Maori way of cooking, where they dig a large hole and put hot coals in then they put the food in wrapped in leaves (normally banana) then more coals and cover the hole in and let cook for hours-un-believable meat it just falls apart it so tender you'll love it
