Her early performances won her critical and public acclaim, and led her to work with her mentor, James Levine. Her later transformation into a diva was capped by her firing from the Metropolitan Opera's production of The Daughter of the Regiment (1994) [for unprofessional behaviour], which left her without a contract to any major opera company. When you look up the word Diva you will find a picture of Kathleen Battle and not because she is an opera singer. Because she is obnoxious and demanding. There is a word for this behavior. Though i wouldn't use it outside a kennel|||She had a reputation for being difficult to work with. She has a beautiful voice, though, and still has many, many fans.
