How far is it from the Ford Center for the Performing Arts and what is the best and cheapest way to get there?

Midway airport is about 10 miles from the Loop (downtown Chicago, where the Ford theater is located).

"Best way" depends on what you mean. The fastest and easiest way is to get a cab. This will cost $25 - 30, but (depending on traffic) could get you downtown in 15 - 30 minutes.

The train (L) is cheapest. It's only $2 (check, though because fares are expected to go up again soon). This is also pretty easy. There is a stop at the airport which is also the end of the line, so it is impossible to go the wrong way or get on the wrong train. the train also runs frequently.

The Clark/Lake stop is very close to the theater, and there is no need to change trains or anything.

Expect the trip to take 30 - 45 minutes.

Take the "L" ,which is the train. Take it's orange line to the end of the line. This will bring you right across the street from the airport. All you have to do is take the walkway that goes over the street and comes down right inside the airport.
