What is the best route to teaching, after doing a degree?opera songsPersonally I did about 14 years in the performing arts industry at various levels. This really does help... and gives you a good grounding for the wide variety of situations that one encounters as a teacher.
Eventually I did a PGCE in drama teaching at the University of Central England In Birmingham. They have a great course there. Then you need to find a school willing to take you on as a teacher and turn their GCSE programme into the BTEC. Done that too and it is good fun.
Good luck with your plans.

do a PGCE|||Just find a local 4 year college with a state approved teacher education program in performing arts.|||Start volunteering with under-16s, experience with 'the kids' etc, and begin swatting up on educational theories/developments etc. Learn as much as you can about the courses you want to teach...|||You need a good college to do a PGCE.
