What is the best way to find out when "Wicked" is holding general auditions?
I'm a musical theatre actress in Chicago who's looking for the best resource for audition news in general, and "Wicked" specifically. Does anybody know if the show tends to hold auditions in an on-demand basis, or if they do them cyclically (ie:every spring or every fall)? This is for any currently performing company, not just the Chicago company! This is also for Non-Equity casting calls, please! My thanks to anyone who has any info about this, insider or otherwise!

Because it is a union show you be required to be a member of Actors equity in order to be eligible to audition. However this can be a grey area if you are auditioning in a right to work state. Like Georgia for example...

Wicked, as most broadway plays, tends to be equity only, unless you have an agent or the casting director specifically wants to see you. It would be best to just send a resume and headshot to the casting director of the show you are interested in and if they need you they will let you know. You might consider mentioning that you are interested in gaining Equity eligibility, if this is your goal, in the cover letter.|||Wicked should post open and closed casting calls in Backstage magazine. A friend of mine went to an open audition in Massachusetts for Wicked/Hairspray, and is currently in the Ensemble in the Chicago production of Wicked
