What's a good Broadway song for a soprano for a talent competition?
I'm going to compete in a talent competition that I've been to before, this January. I need a Broadway song and it's actually one of the rare occasions where it's okay if it's overdone! I'm fifteen years old and am an extremely high soprano, but can sing some (but not too terribly low) alto parts. I'd like a song that showcases my voice, and gives me a chance to really work the crowd, if you know what I mean. It needs to be a big "performance song." It definitely needs to be a majorly Broadway song, and while it's okay to have one that's overdone, I'd like to have one that's well known but yet one that everyone in the showbusiness world is NOT sick to death of hearing. I know I'm being kind of picky here, but does anyone have any ideas? Last year the girl who won sang Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera. One more thing to take into consideration is the fact that the songs should be no longer than 2 and a half minutes long. Ideas?
What's a good Broadway song for a soprano for a talent competition?say yesIf you're a high soprano, check out Glitter and be Gay from Candide. It's a comic song, very funny and a total show stopper. You do have to have a good range and flexible voice though - it hits high Eb 6 times, 4 staccato and 2 sustained. It's longer than 2 1/2 minutes, but you can cut it. There are several versions on You Tube, including one by Kristin Chenoweth which is hilarious!
